Inspection Formulation

Each major Custom House shall be inspected at least once a year by an
Inspecting Officer/Party under the personal directions of the Director
General or Addl. Director General/Addl.Director/Jt. Director/Asstt. Director.
These Inspections shall be designed to verify that in each Branch of the
Custom House

The staff is adequate, but not excessive

The work is equitably distributed.

The manuals and other instructions under which each department     operated are sufficiently comprehensive and are properly maintained

The Head of Department has carried out regular inspection of sufficient    thoroughness to ensure that the work is properly organized and kept    fairly upto date.

The inspection party should also verify by a test-check of documents and by actual inspection of the Departmental operations that all executive processes are properly carried out and all rules and orders are carefully and strictly enforced.

Any major problems which have arisen in the Customs Houses in connection with the application of the Law or the interpretation of the Tariff should be specially studied in consultation with the Commissioner.

All minor Customs Houses and Land Stations shall be inspected at least once every two years.
