Inspections
The Special points to be looked into during inspection:
Staff Records:
It is the responsibility of the Commissioners to see that
the
personal records of the officers and staff are adequately
maintained. The scrutiny by the officers of the Directorate
during their inspection will be related to the verification
of the proper maintenance of the personal records and
distinct from the character rolls and it is not the intention
that the character rolls of any officer or member of the
staff should be seen by an officer of the Directorate
General. Irregularities, if any which may be noticed with
regard to the maintenance of such records should be brought
to the attention of the Commissioner for rectification.
Any general suggestions which the Directorate may like
to make in this connection should be reported to the Board
for consideration and orders.
Review of register
of disciplinary cases (Central Excise):The
Inspecting officers should, during their inspection examine
the records of disciplinary cases maintained in the Divisional
and Range Officers with a view to pointing out general
defects in procedure and to offer suggestions, if any,
of a general nature to ensure uniformity of procedure
and treatment in the various Central Excise Commissionerate.
